About This Home

Welcome to Casa Carolina, an exquisite home nestled in the heart of Popoyo, Nicaragua that boasts elegance and creativity into a very thoughtful design. This remarkable residence is a testament to our commitment to creating timeless spaces by blending architectural design with comfort and luxury.

The design presented challenges as this project was actually a partial tear-down that only left 3 exterior walls and a few columns in place from the original home's first floor.  It was an ambitious project of tearing down the old and breathing life into the new.  The end result was another Horizon signature design and build that we are proud to call our own.

Spanning 3,295 sq. ft., Casa Carolina offers a harmonious blend of sophistication and relaxation. Boasting 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, this home is a haven of tranquility - perfect for both unwinding and entertaining.

The interiors of Casa Carolina are adorned with meticulous attention to detail. The kitchen, stair risers, and bathrooms are adorned with exquisite Granada Tiles, lending a touch of artistic elegance. From the inside out, the travertine tile floors seamlessly connect the interior with the inviting outdoor spaces. The crown jewel of the outdoor area is the pool, complete with a captivating wet deck that cascades into the main pool, all of which is enveloped in the same luxurious travertine tile. The home enjoys an abundance of natural light through the vast array of vinyl windows and sliding doors, while the kiln-dried, Nicaraguan cedar doors and cabinetry exude the warmth and character unique to the region. Ascending the spiral staircase to the third-floor lounge and surf lookout, you're greeted with panoramic views of Nicaragua's coastal line where you can kick back and soak up the views of the surf and Pacific Ocean.

Every remodel project presents its own opportunities and with Casa Carolina we were able to salvage, repurpose and reuse all of the Nicaraguan hardwood from the previous structure.  This beautiful wood was transformed into stunning tongue and groove wood ceilings, roof beams, a charming pergola, privacy walls, elegant handrails, bathroom vanities and gorgeous bed frames. Not only did this help save on costs and reduce the environmental impact, but it also lends an air of authenticity to the home.
