About This Home

Casa del Mar is a perfect example of our ability to take an outdated home, rearrange the layout for functionality and top it off with all kinds of gorgeous finishes to create an entirely new home.

The original layout of the kitchen was hardly functional - counter and cooking spaces were separated by too much area, there was a lot of unusable space and the counters were bumpy and not level.  Additionally, the cabinets were made of pressed particle board that became rotted, moldy and infested with termites.  We demolished the entire space and decided to start from scratch!  We added a food pantry with plenty of shelving, built an island bar for both the sink and bar stools, built custom hardwood cabinets, poured polished concrete counters and added Granada tiles as an accent to lively up the space.

We also gutted the bathrooms and started from scatch there too.  The original bathrooms were laiden with hideous, cheap tiles, 1980's glass shower sliders, low-end plumbing finishes and tiny little mirrors.  We upgraded all of the bathrooms to feature Granada tiles as both a wainscoating and for the shower tiels, built free-standing cabinets, installed elegant sinks, faucets and lighting and hung large vanity mirrors in each.

The original design had a screened in laundry and storage room in the back, oceanside corner of the house.  We tore down all of the exterior walls, moved the washer and dryer and created a back patio complete with a stainless steel BBQ grill and bar, stone accented columns and made the space accessible from the living room with a new sliding door that also allows plenty of new natural light into the main house!

Addtionally, we rearranged the layout of the living room, built an entertainment center under the stairs for the TV, stereo and other electronics, added Granada tiles to the stair risers as well as custom iron spindles to the handrails of the staircase.  We carried this same custom ironwork onto the exterior doors to accent the glass panels.

To sum it up, this project was a complete transformation and entailed so many little details that helped create a cozy new beach house for the new owner.

A complete remodel featuring new layouts, new spaces and new finishes throughout!
